Yoroi is traditional samurai armor, which, from a historical perspective, represents not only a warrior’s protection on the battlefield, but also a cherished symbol of the warrior tradition and the glory of ancestors—displayed in the most prominent place within a home or offered as a votive object with reverence to Buddhist or Shinto shrines. A complete set of armor resembles an almost anthropomorphic statue, sometimes even a fantastical stylization.
